Hello People,
This is an official welcome to Naija and Other Stories. I am Dakore, a young lover of stories, hence I like to style myself A Fisher of Stories. I am also a proud Nigerian ( though my pride has fallen to maybe 40% or less at present), Niger Delatan, Media and Literature graduate, Writer, Potential Activist, Artist, DIY enthusiast and much more as you will find out in the course of following this blog.
I set up this blog in a culmination of my love for Nigeria and stories. As we are currently facing turbulent times in Nigeria as well as all over the world, I felt it would be a good time to rediscover , reinvent and reevaluate ourselves through telling our stories.
My Nigeria is a very interesting place. How could it not be with a current estimated population of over 180 Million people, 7th in the world population ranking. The stories to be found here are of immenese potential and it would be both useful to us as a people and the rest of mankind.
When I say Stories, we are by no means restricted to only tales of fiction, it could also be true life, faction,;spiced or unspiced(pure opinions). For stories are always in one way or another a mirror of our environment and society. A woman I admire, Chimamanda Adiche, once mentioned the dangers of a single story and it is in this vein that we want to explore different voices in Nigeria and invariably the rest of the world.
Therefore reader, as I endeavour to tell my stories please, you are also welcome to share by sending in to: codenamebijin@gmail.com. Thank you and welcome to Naija and Other Stories.
p.s. Forget celebrity talk, stories about ordinary people are even juicier.
